For the Want of a Nail, the Shoe Was Lost, is the first memoir in this series. These are the stories of the role that twelve great men played in making me whatever measure of a farrier and teacher that I am today. Even though it may seem out of place, it was the first one that wanted to see the light of day and exist on paper. It had been calling to me for over seven years when I finally got it done, and I had seen a couple of my mentors pass on to their final reward. I was saddened that they did not get the pleasure of seeing this book completed, and I wanted it printed for those that remained.
    Crossing the paths of these great men was a blessing that allowed me to enjoy a career well beyond what I ever expected. Their part of my life was always informative and often humorous. You will enjoy getting to meet these guys in the pages of this book.
